Perissa beach

Perissa beach is one of the most famous and most organized on the island. Is located on the southern part of Santorini, just 13 kilometers from Fira. Is easy to get to by bus starting from Fira every 25 minutes approximately and of course by private or rental car and motorbikes.

This is the island’s longest beach and attracts many visitors with its endless black lava sand and the dark blue sea. The long sandy coast starts from the mountain Mesa Vouno and ends at Perivolos beach and Agios Georgios.

Perissa beach is unique and not very windy, because is well protected from the summer Aegean winds as it lies right next to Profitis Ilias mountain.

It is well organized and you can find umbrellas and sun beds for rent, showers, chemical toilets, lifeguards and a playground. The water here is magnificent. Crystal clear but gets quickly very deep, which does not make it attractive to everyone.

It provides a variety of water sports facilities on the island including waterskiing, jet skis, windsurfing, sailing, snorkeling and has 2 diving centers. The waterslide park is a nice way to keep children entertained for the day.

The beach has been awarded the coveted Blue Flag which certifies it as a particularly clean and safe beach, both in and out of the water.

Here you will find a wide selection of hotels, rooms for rent and villas, as well as a number of mini markets, seaside Greek taverns and restaurants where you can enjoy a range of tasty cuisine and fresh sea food. Beach bars, cafes and nightclubs are operating here where you can enjoy a cool refreshing drink.
The atmosphere is quite lively by day and night as the beach attracts many young couples and independent travelers. A camping is here therefore you’ll mainly find younger crowd.

Is definitely worthwhile a stroll to the nearby village of Emporio for a glimpse of traditional Cyclades architecture.
