Vlichada beach is located on the southern tip of Santorini and is a relatively quiet beach resort. To the east is Perivolos beach and the larger busier resort of Perissa. Access is easy and can be done by the bus, taxis or rental cars.
Vlichada is one of the most atmospheric beaches in the island and is considered one of the best as white pumice rocks and the black sand forming a lunar landscape, sculpted over the years by wind and saltiness.
It is a popular resort with friendly atmosphere. A wonderful place to relax as it is one of the less frequented beaches in the island. The ideal for peaceful sunbathing. Is preferred by couples and the nudists where they can find more privacy.
This unique beach has an exceptionally long black sandy beach, sparkling blue sea and clear clean warm water. Black sand gets hot, so remember your flip flops! Part of it is organized, offering sun beds and a few umbrellas, while the other side is more remote. Here is a canteen that offers sandwiches based on local specialties. Taverns are also available dotted alongside the beach offering delicious traditional food from noon until late evening.
Here you will also find a hotel and a spa, few rooms to let and a big modern recently constructed marina, hosting the Sailing and Yacht Club of Santorini. Near Vlichada lies the beach of Almyra with its impressive sea-scalped rocks in the background, but getting there by car is quite difficult.
From Vlichada beach, you can easily reach Akrotiri where you will find ancient ruins and the famous Red Beach with its steep red lava cliffs.
